If you are single or an adult couple under pension age, your rights and entitlements are different to those with children or older people.

Whatever your age or status, the first thing you should do is contact your local council’s housing team.

Shelter
 the national housing charity, has a wealth of information for everyone.

Their website will give you advice on your rights and the support you can expect, depending on your personal circumstances.
They also run a free housing advice line – 0808 800 4444 – and an online chat service.

Citizen’s Advice
offers practical, impartial information online ,
over the phone 03444 889 629
and face to face in their local advice centres.

COME TO HOPE’s HandUP SERVICE

If you are a single adult or couple under pension age, on the street

Come to Hope.

HandUp service hours are currently 11.30-1.30 Mon-Sat
with one to one support outside of those time by appointment
We can give you food, clothing, advice and support
to access housing options,
benefits, banking, plus health and well-being support

You should also approach the Council directly (see details on the left),
but we will support you through this process.
