Hope are please to announce that the Rt Rev Dr David J Oakley, Bishop of Northampton has accepted the invitation to become Patron of the charity.
When asked to comment on his acceptance of the role:
“Hope is an interesting word. It suggests something which is not in place at present, and for Christians, is often associated with the coming of God’s Kingdom in the fullness of time. One definition of hope is this, ‘a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen’. The Gospel is very clear, our future happiness is built upon our concern for the needs of others here and now. With this in mind, I am delighted to become a Patron of the Hope charity. I very much desire that we might work together to overcome the poverty which so robs people of any hope.”
We welcome Rt Rev Dr David J Oakley to Hope and know that together we can achieve great things for those in need in Northampton
