As has been reported extensively in the press, the Hope Day Centre at Oasis House has been given notice by Midland Heart Housing Association, our landlord, working in partnership with Northampton Borough Council, making a homelessness charity and its service users effectively ‘homeless’ and unsupported.
Hope’s board met on Tuesday, 23rd October to discuss this threat to our services. We are engaged in dialogue with those responsible for this decision with a view to helping them understand the disastrous impact this will have to poor, homeless and dispossessed people in our town, the quality of the work that we do, and the sadness this brings to our thousands of supporters, volunteers, staff and friends in our community. Our hope is that the decision can be reversed.
We welcome the huge outpouring of support we have received from friends, not least of all the comments received on an entirely independent petition placed by one of our patrons. For just a snapshot of the humbling comments made, read one of them here: https://goo.gl/ZJY268
